The Advantages of Low Intensity Laser Therapy (LILT) for Pain Treatment

Living with pain, recent or chronic, can be debilitating affecting every aspect of your life.  Low intensity light therapy (LILT) is a non-invasive, non-toxic, easily applied and highly effective therapy with no side effects.

Therapeutic Laser for Pain

Low intensity light therapy (LILT), otherwise known as laser therapy is the use of monochromatic light emission from a low intensity laser diode, or an array of super luminous diodes to treat musculoskeletal injuries, chronic and degenerative conditions to heal wounds.  The light source is placed in contact with the skin allowing the photon energy to penetrate the tissue, where it interacts with various intra-cellular bio-molecules resulting in the restoration of normal cell function and enhancement of the body’s healing processes.

The Technology

This dynamic emerging technology utilizes superluminous and laser diodes to irradiate abnormal tissue with photons.  These are particles of energy that are absorbed by a variety of micro molecules within a cell, a process which initiates a number of positive physiological responses.  In essence, light energy is converted into biochemical energy which leads to cell healing.  The result:  normal cell morphology and function are restored.  the process is curative and as logic dictates, symptoms disappear.  Light in its various forms has been used for healing from the time of the ancient Egyptian and Greek civilizations.   In English:  Laser will increase cell metabolism (ie increase oxygen and nutrients) going to the injured area to repair damaged tissue.  It also causes an increase in endorphins, our ‘feel good’ hormones to decrease pain.  Think of this as a way to increase the building blocks of our cells to repair the body!
