Reflexology
FAQ
What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is a therapy used for activating the natural healing powers of the body, and it has been practised since ancient times to help promote good health. Its popularity as a complementary therapy has greatly increased worldwide. How does it feel?
Reflexology involves the practitioner applying pressure to reflex points on the feet. These reflex points correspond with all organs, glands and tissues within the client’s body. Stresses of everyday life, lack of exercise, inadequate diet and poor posture can eventually contribute to energy imbalances and blockages. If these energy blockages are not opened up to allow the energy to flow freely, then over a period of time, stagnant energy may contribute to disease. What can Reflexology treat?
Reflexology may help alleviate this problem by freeing energy pathways and aid in the elimination of built up toxins from the tissues. In this way, the body systems are encouraged to function more efficiently. Reflexology in conjunction with a healthy lifestyle aids in the nurturing of the body, mind and spirit.Reflexology helps to:
- Reduce Stress
- Promote Deep Relaxation
- Balance The Body’s Energy System
- Cleanse The Body Of Toxins And Impurities
- Improve Circulation
- Complement Other Therapies

Your First Visit and Forms
A reflexology session is usually about 60 minutes. The reflexologist will ask questions about your medical and emotional history, any illnesses or diseases have been diagnosed with, and take a list of any medication and/or herbs you are currently taking, as these may affect the way in which the session is performed. Reflexology is not recommended during the first trimester of pregnancy.
The session takes place while the client is laying on a massage-like table. The reflexologist will relax the client through flexing and similar motions. The session continues using methods somewhat similar to acupressure. The session is usually very relaxing and often clients will fall asleep. Reflexology is excellent for stress management and general relaxation.
